This blog is dedicated to people with, and in
relationship with those who have, Advoidant Personality Disorder. I include avoidant tendencies and even those who
also have Asperger's. If you are reading this, I probably don’t
have to tell you about these diagnoses. If you have or love someone
who has these conditions, you probably have been through all the mind boggling
and heart wrenching challenges of trying to figure out what is going on. If you found your way to a diagnosis, Congratulations! I know that was no easy journey in it
self.
Life is a wild ride not matter what. And I can share with you how we
found a path through and dealt with these very hard to treat conditions. Ways that
eventually bought about profound transformations of myself and my
husband, who suffered greatly under the influence these states, but free from. It was a long and grueling path of self awareness, in which we could find no easy way. Like
Odysseus' odyssey, far from what we thought of as home, many very difficult challenges had to be
overcome.
If you embark on this trip, you will become aware of and forge what
seems like the dark side of the moon, cold places you never
dreamed you would be but actually are at. And unless you are ready for letting go of what you thought
you should be getting from or experiencing in relationships, this blog will not be a place
of refuge for you.
But don't let this scare you off from what will be the greatest story you ever told yourself or others. We did find a way over the ocean that is the gulf
between us, them and others. I was able to go get my husband
and bring him home. And in not giving up, I changed into a person with
deeper understanding, patience, compassion, fortitude and courage, than I would ever have mustered
ordinarily.
And what my husband has become is dramatically different from the shy withdrawn and troubled man he once was. He also gained all that I did. And he is alive and dynamic, with full access to all of his amazing gifts, which he can now share with the world.
This is the story of how we did it.
